FAQ

Doggy Day Care is an environment where dogs are dropped off for the day to play with other dogs in a fun, safe, well-supervised and clean environment. Day Care at DogTown USA has many benefits including:

  • Provides regular exercise to maintain a healthy weight
  • Relieves boredom, separation anxiety, and destructive behavior at home
  • Improves socialization with dogs and people
  • Enhances quality of life
The dogs are placed in indoor play areas including our indoor waterpark where they can socialize and play with other dogs. They are separated by size, temperament, and activity level. If a dog is tired, they can take a nap in one of our spacious suites. Overnight guests spend an hour in their suites for morning and evening meals in addition to taking a short nap in the middle of the day.
DogTown USA provides all-day play, so taking a walk will be the last thought on your Camper’s mind. Romping around with their friends all day provides them all the exercise they need for the day. Elderly guests can be taken on private walks with our trained staff.
DogTown USA is an all-inclusive pet resort. Providing all-day play with other dogs so your dog has lots of fun and gets a lot of exercise during the day. Many “traditional” kennels typically leave the dogs in a cage most of the day, or they may be let out briefly or placed in an outdoor run a couple of times a day. The dogs at traditional kennels usually do not interact with other dogs. Our trained staff supervises all play activity. We also have a lifeguard that monitors all swimming pool activity.
All DogTown USA locations offer multiple dog discounts if the dogs are able to share a Suite. Check the “pricing” page of any location to determine their rates for multiple dogs.
We will provide your dog’s medications at no extra charge. For your pet’s safety, medication must be in the original bottle and the prescription must be current. All medications are administered by our trained hospital staff from St. Bernard’s Animal Hospital at DogTown USA.
Absolutely! In fact, we encourage it. Stop by your nearest DogTown USA anytime during business hours and ask for a tour. No appointment is needed to tour our facilities.
DogTown USA has an all-day play environment, so dogs must be able to play safely in a large group. They must be over three months old. They must also be current on their Rabies, 6 month Bordetella (for canine cough), and Distemper vaccinations. Additional vaccinations may be required based upon regional location. They must be in good health, flea/tick free, friendly to all dogs, and generally love to play and socialize. Exceptions are made for senior dogs that prefer private playtime with our staff.
DogTown USA welcomes all dogs based on their behavior and ability to handle the rigors of Dacare & Boarding.. It is not corporate policy to turn away a dog based on breed. We love all dog breeds.
All of our locations require Rabies, Bordetella and Distemper and a fecal within the past 12 months. We require the Bordetella vaccination to be administered every 6 months.
Although we do our best to minimize any injury to your dog, during normal play a dog may get small scratches, nicks, and lose small patches of fur. Although rare, it is possible for more serious injuries to occur.
In case of illness or injury, we quickly assess the situation to determine what plan of action to take. Our concern is always what is best for our canine guest. Depending on the situation, we will either rush the guest to the closest vet or, in non-emergency situations, we will make the effort to take them to their own vet. At DogTown USA Jacksonville, we have a full service animal hospital staffed everyday. (St. Bernard’s Animal Hospital)
For the safety of the little dogs, we separate dogs into our play areas based on size, temperament, and activity level.
This is one of the great benefits of Day Care! Your dog gets to play all day so, naturally, they are tired at the end of the day. Often, when you take your dog home, they will curl up and go to sleep. Rest assured if your dog becomes overly tired during the day, we will take them to a suite for a short nap. We will not force a dog to get up from a nap if they are still sleeping. Many of our guests who stay for extended periods of time choose to take longer naps.
All of our resorts have monitored security, fire, and temperature control alarms. Unlike most kennels, all DogTown USA locations are fully fire sprinkler protected. Most importantly, YES all DogTown USA locations maintain a human presence to care for our guests 24/7.
Yes, we recommend bringing your dog’s food from home to keep their stomach from getting upset during their stay. Your are also welcome to bring simple bedding, toys and treats.
For overnight boarding, we need a reservation, and it would be best to make a reservation as soon as you know you will need one. Please be aware that holidays such as Thanksgiving and Christmas book several months in advance and other holidays book several weeks in advance. During the summer months, both of our locations fill up early for weekends.
It is very common that your dog’s pads will be sore after playing, especially when they first start coming. Most dog’s paws are not used to playing all day, but rest assured it is only temporary and they will build stronger pads the more they visit.
All of our locations offer full grooming services, baths and nail trims so you can pick up a clean and fresh smelling dog after their stay.
Currently only our Jacksonville location on San Jose Blvd in Mandarin offers a full service animal hospital ( St. Bernard’s ) open 7 days a week.
